I'm currently redesigning my website. As a result, I'm changing the "News" section of my site to "New Work" and simply having it link to my Flickr page. Seeing as I update this blog about as often as people read it, which is to say, not very often, I'll probably just render this blog defunct. Just a heads up to anyone who might stumble across it...

Sincerely,

Mar

Ultraviolet Candy Fallout · This is a personal piece. I was trying out a new way of working that involves cut paper in addition to the usual pen & ink/digital stuff. It's a bizarre image, but I'm pleased with the final outcome.

Rough In the Diamond · Pittsburgh City Paper : Cover illustration for a feature which explores exactly what happened to the Pittsburgh Pirates and why they've been so god-awful for so long. One more sub-.500 season would make 17 in a row for the Pirates, thus setting a new record for most consecutive losing seasons in a row...not just an MLB record but the longest losing streak by any professional sports franchise EVER! As a fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, this illustration was particularly painful but funny at the same time.

Roland Garros Map · Tennis Magazine : A tongue-in-cheek look at the 2009 French Open. The art director is supposed to send me the finished page with the headline and all the captions, at which point I'll try posting a larger-scale version...
